If there would have been the NIV & NLT included in the free version this would be a great app. You have to purchase these Bibles and theyre not cheap. Better to stick with YouVersion. Afterall, its free.

I have to agree with another reviewer that without NIV this product is sadly lacking. I already paid for this on my Palm, including NIV, so I dont know why I would spend more money on it now.

If youre looking for free bible, look somewhere else. Ive been using this software on my old palm tx, and moved to iPod touch, then iPad. The pocket bible Is aGREAt product if youre going to invest money on some of those tools, yes youve gotto pay for the niv study bible or esv study bible plus a few more commentaries and dictionaries. That will cost you about $80. Good investment! And you can use the purchased resources in different platform without further charges. I used my stuff on a win7 laptop, as I said my old palm tx, apple iPod touch and iPad. Note, I also own other free software as well

Legacy of stability - no fancy paper images but quick shortcuts, rich add-ons and options. Interface could be a bit more fancy but even without that - this remains a solid winner. Only two horses in the Bible apps race and this is one of them.

Bought the original Bible versions for my HP hand held years ago. Added my PC no extra cost. Added it to my iPod, then my iPad, then my phone, no extra cost! Looking forward to putting it on my MacBook Pro if that goes too! Paid for itself!!! And I can use it without WiFi hookup unlike some other Bible software! Bonus!! But not just Bible Versions but other study - support books too and Audio voice versions at a reasonable price (I thought it was at the time I purchased). You buy only what you want will use, a little at a time!

I first started using this app back in the Palm days. Its been even better on the Touch. I do wish that you could scroll rather than having to swipe to go page by page, but thats a minor critique. Ver 3 update: another super hit for Laridian! Love the new features and the new icon design.

This is an awesome application. Easy to use and packed with dozens of bibles, commentaries etc at affordable prices. Side-by-side comparison of multiple bibles, commentaries etc, notes, customizable highlights, easy access to bible books, chapters and verses, and so easy and intuitive. Makes bible study a wonderful experience each day.

The description uses language suggesting that the NIV is included, its not. You have to pay I think it was $12 for it. And they force you to register to find that out. Not cool at all. Description should have been far more clear.

This is definitely worth the investment! The in app purchases are cross platform capable... Laridian has proved itself to be a reliable and solid company that actually care for and develop apps for concerns in regard to the customer experience! Ive been with them for many moons, using many devices and I only had to purchase once to have all transferred onto the newest gadget without a hitch! Ive tried several other apps and non came close to Laridian!! Highly recommended, it will be a company you will go back to for all your bible/commentary and study needs and not be disappointed!! The old adage of you get what what you pay for applies here, there is no value in free Kudos Laridian and thank you!!!

I have no idea why some reviewers think this great study tool only rates one star - I flat out disagree. Parallel study, verses are linked with fully synchronized scrolling, imbedded language study on a verse by verse basis, dozens of commentaries and dictionaries (again, all linked by verse), detailed search capabilities, personal tags, separate study notes - the list goes on and on. How many more goodies can I list before you realize that a one star rating is completely out of touch with the features included. No, the developers do not spend their lives doing this for free and yup, as odd as it may sound they actually try to make a living by writing and selling this application. By the way - Thomas Nelson publishers own the rights to the NIV version of the bible and they do not give it away for free so yes, Laridian, Olive Tree, Biblesoft, Logos - they all charge for it. So Laridian provides a free reader with a minor $6 charge for the advanced reader and they offer dozens of very low cost additional study works - this app is a great deal. Final thought - I have used this app for 8 years beginning with a PDA version, then a Palm Treo version, now an iPad version. Guess what - the Laridian licensing model has let me transition all of my books from platform to platform AT NO ADDITIONAL COST. Thats a tremendously valuable licensing model. Thanks Laridian!

Yes, I am rating this app, primarily, on its superior view options. Unlike almost all the other Bible apps, PocketBible fits a lot of content on a small screen. It allows the use of every millimeter of the screen for content, with very little dead space. For example, you can get rid of margins. For any screen smaller than 5", this makes a huge difference; you dont have to scroll/turn pages every 10 words. You can focus on reading instead turning pages!

I have used PocketBible since I had a Palm Pilot. I still have every Bible edition and study book purchased through PocketBible. You never have to buy again on new devices. It is a great study aid for any Bible student. I highly recommend it.

Ive been using PocketBible since the days of the palm pilot. It is a fast, reliable and comprehensive tool for bible reading and study with option to download many bible versions and commentaries, dictionaries, sturdy guides.

I have used Pocketbible for over a decade and find it easy to use and better than other more expensive (and complicated) resource. No need for an internet connection if you download all your books.

Laridians stuff has been incredibly full featured going back through a long history of devices. Gotta have it.

Well Im impressed! Simple, clean interface -- and whats amazing is that they remembered my Palm account from ten years ago and "restored" my purchases on my new iPhone -- and it was easy! Now thats service!

Ive used this app since 2003 on my old HP iPac Windows PDA, before the iPhone or app store ever came out. Ive benefited a lot from it. Its a reliable app with good features.

Powerful search, excellent in book navigation once you understand the tap zones.
